Restorative Dentistry That Lasts

Repair damaged teeth and replace missing ones with strong, natural-looking restorations

Restorative dentistry rebuilds teeth that have been damaged by decay, trauma, wear, or infection, and replaces teeth that are no longer there. At Cook Family Dentistry, we focus on restorations that look natural, chew comfortably, and last for years. Dr. Cook combines training from the Dawson Academy with same-visit CEREC technology, so many crowns can be designed, milled, and placed in a single appointment.

Whether you need a crown, a bridge, a denture, or a gentle root canal to save an infected tooth, we will explain what the tooth needs, what each option costs in time and money, and what we would recommend for someone in our own family. Every plan starts with a thorough exam and digital imaging, so we treat the cause, not just the symptom.

Dawson-Trained Approach

Restorations are planned around how your bite works, not just how the individual tooth looks.

We always look at whether the natural tooth can be saved with a crown or root canal before recommending extraction.

Comfortable Sedation Available

Oral sedation and nitrous oxide are available for longer restorative visits or anxious patients.

Common Questions About Restorative Dentistry

How long do crowns and bridges last?

With good home care and regular checkups, modern porcelain crowns and bridges typically last 10 to 15 years or more. Bite force, grinding habits, and gum health are the biggest factors that affect longevity.

Can you really do a crown in one visit?

Yes. Our CEREC system designs and mills the crown chairside while you wait, so many patients leave with a permanent crown in a single appointment, no temporary crown needed.

Are root canals painful?

The procedure itself is performed with local anesthesia and is generally not painful. Most of the pain people associate with root canals is the infection that brings them in. Treating the canal relieves that pressure, so patients usually feel significantly better afterward.

Is it better to save a tooth or replace it?

Whenever possible, we recommend saving the natural tooth with a crown, root canal, or other restoration. Replacement options like implants and bridges are excellent when extraction is unavoidable, but no replacement matches the proprioceptive feel of a healthy natural tooth.

Will my restoration look natural?

Yes. We match the color, translucency, and shape of your existing teeth so a crown, bridge, or filling blends in. For visible front teeth, we may use additional steps to create a seamless match.
